Covid19 -The Way Out.

Has at May 15 the total number of persons infected with the novel coronavirus stands at 4,444,000, with over 300,000 thousand deaths and more than a million recoveries.

The world economy as been hit badly as many countries cruise to recession, the pandemic is no doubt a slippery slope.

The question remains, What is the way out?

The trust is no one really knows, and with the WHO’s recent revelation, Covid 19 might stick around just like the HIV.

The convestation around the way out can be ignored with people listening to the advice of health professional and start taking personal responsibility for their protection.

We can start with using our facemasks, maintaining social distance, physical hygiene and the rest but the way the spikes have hit us we might be better off safe than sorry.

We need a new coordinated, collective approach that feeds on the culture of globalization we have practiced for some decades.

An approach where no one Victor OR vanquish. Whether it’s the vaccine from Europe or the herbs from the mountains of Madagascar, we should pass both through the prism of clinical trials which can inform our decision for mass reproduction.

So our the engines of the global economy can start rolling again and the graves can stop snatching our loved ones. Wouldn’t you like that?

Till I write you again, be safe and tell the story.

Pres. Buhari government issues new directive to NBC on hate speech, others

Pres. Buharis Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has directed the National Broadcasting Commission to immediately implement measures aimed at re-positioning the broadcast industry. Whose benefit?

Mohammed in a statement on Thursday by his media aide, Segun Adeyemi, said the directives became necessary following the submission of the report of the committee set up to work out the modalities for implementing the recommendations approved by the President, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari.

Mohammed said the directive covers provision for the regulation of hate speech, among others.

“Following my satisfaction with the report which was very professional and detailed, I wish to direct the Commission to take the necessary measures to effect the implementation of the various provisions therein.

“This directive covers the provision for the regulation of the web and online TV/radio; regulation of international broadcasters beaming signals into Nigeria; hate speech; human resource and staff welfare; funding for the reforms implementation; monitoring; Independence of the Regulator and ease of issuing Licenses  as well as competition and monopoly issues.

“This regulation prevents the misuse of monopoly or market power or anti-competitive and unfair practices by a foreign or local broadcaster to suppress other local broadcaster in the television and radio markets, having removed exclusivity from all content in Nigeria and mandated the sharing of all content upon the payment of commercially viable fees.”

Mohammed added that the new regulations will compel broadcasters to utilize the content and services of Nigerian independent producers, in fulfillment of the regulatory requirements for 70 percent local content.

He explained that this will empower local producers with proper funding and investment, enhance foreign collaborations, develop the local industry, raise the standard of local productions and ultimately lead to job creation.

Whose benefit?

According to him, the new regulations will also ensure that producers of content are paid promptly for adverts and sponsored content placed on all TV, radio and broadcast platforms.

$24,000 bribery scandal: EFCC move in to search Shehu Sani’s houses, office

Men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday  searched  two houses and an office of the embattled Senator Shehu Sani in Abuja.

This move, as reported, was part of the ongoing investigation of alleged extortion of $24,000 from the Chairman of ASD Motors, Alhaji Sani Dauda leveled against the former lawmaker.

A search warrant was said to have been obtained before carrying out the searches.

“So far, nothing was found against him during the operation and the former senator has been returned to our custody,” the source explained according to punchng.com

It was further gathered that the EFCC took evidence from the wife of the businessman, who confirmed that Sani met with her husband in their home.

Dauda, also in his petition to the EFCC, had claimed that the former senator demanded N4m from him to give to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad,  and other four judges to influence some pending cases in court.

But  the CJN on Sunday had denied links with Shehu Sani.

Sani, a fiery critic of the government, has consistently maintained his innocence.

Meanwhile, the People’s Democratic Party has said the arrest and incarceration of Sani who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District between 2015 and 2019, are unprofessional. He urged the commission to accord Sani all his rights under the law, noting that the senator remained an accused person and should be treated as an innocent person until otherwise proved.

The accepted standard for such operations is to investigate first, then prosecute with the materials gathered over time.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
